Commission to issue further Statement of Issues on proposed Foodstuffs merger

The Commerce Commission has provided an update on the application from Foodstuffs North Island Limited and Foodstuffs South Island Limited seeking clearance to merge.
The Commission has decided that there are issues that require further investigation (although it has not yet made a decision one way or another). This means that the analysis is complex - as we know from the submission NZFGC made, which you can read here.
The Statement of Issues will be published on the Commission’s case register in due course and will outline the Commission’s potential competition issues with the proposed merger following its initial investigation. Statement of Issues will invite further submissions.
