FGC working with Alibaba on export opportunities
7 March 2017
FGC is working with Alibaba Group to help open up export opportunities for New Zealand food and grocery companies. As part of this initiative, Alibaba’s Business Development Manager for Australia/New Zealand, Pier Smulders, has been invited to speak at the Half-Year Meeting and AGM in Auckland on May 18.
Katherine Rich says FGC regards the opening of Alibaba’s Australia/New Zealand office as a significant opportunity for New Zealand businesses to work more closely with the online empire.
“Pier Smulders will be in Auckland to talk to members about latest initiatives and his ambition for more Kiwi and Aussie companies to grow their businesses by working together with his company.
“He's passionate about encouraging our member companies to get more involved – a number already are – particularly at a time when the differences between consumer online and offline experiences are blurring.
“Properly structured, the age-old problems of distance from markets can mitigated through a number of other exciting developments the company is working on, too.”
