Healthy Balance: Maintaining a good pulse

If someone told you about a food that was low in fat, gluten free, a good source of protein, fibre and vitamins, comparatively cheap, and good for the planet from a growing perspective – you would want to know what this seemingly wonder food is. But mention the word ‘pulses’ and we either do not know what they are or conjure up something that is boring, vegetarian, difficult to cook and can give you ‘wind’. 

In New Zealand, we seriously under-estimate the benefits of pulses. They are all those things mentioned above: low in fat, gluten free, and a good source of protein, fibre and vitamins.
