Food Protection Forum 12 October

A reminder to members about the upcoming Food Protection Forum in Auckland on 12 October. It will focus on the importance of a food safety culture and food defence in protecting our economy, reputation and consumers globally.

A line-up of international speakers and attendance by industry leaders will ensure this is an opportunity to address food protection in New Zealand. It is being run by MPI with support from FGC, and we encourage members to attend.

Two speakers have been added to the previously announced list. They are Greg Gent, Chair of the Food Safety Capability Working Group, which reports to the Director-General of MPI on the food safety capability and capacity needs of the dairy sector, and Dr John W Larkin, Research Director of the US National Centre for Food Protection and Defense (a Homeland Security Centre of Excellence).

Other speakers are Food Safety Minister Jo Goodhew, Vice-Minister Teng Jiacai of the China Food and Drug Administration, Professor Alan Reilly, a former Chief Executive of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, Frank Yiannas, Vice-President of Food Safety and Health, Walmart, and Dr John Spink, Director of the Food Fraud Initiative, Michigan State University.

You can register by going to the forum’s website here, or you can check the programme here.
