Food marketing to children – where to next?
The Food & Health Programme at Auckland University is hosting a seminar on food marketing to children on December 10.
Three academics from the university and one from Otago University will speak, as will Lindsay Mouat from the Association of NZ Advertisers and Simon Kenny from McDonald’s. Lindsay’s topic will be ‘Advertising Codes and Pledges – the ASA and More’.

Health Star Rating workshop for Napier in February
FGC and Food Hawke’s Bay are supporting an MPI Health Star Rating workshop in Napier on 12 February.
It’s a ‘hands-on’ workshop that will look at how changes in food composition can alter ratings and will show companies how to find and use the tools available. Attendees can take products along to see the rating for them, or questions can be emailed through before the workshop.Read More

Lars Wallentin, design legend - FGC member exclusive in association with Design Print Partners
Lars Wallentin has been influential in strategic design solutions in packaging, point-of-sale and branding for many of world’s most influential brands.
He was born in Sweden and educated at the Graphic Institute in Stockholm, before joining Nestlé at their headquarters and doing much of the work he was to become renowned for. He now spends his time writing about design and packaging, and consulting to consumer goods companies. His device, which comes through in his teaching, can be summarized in the three words: simplify, surprise, synergies.

FGC to host forum on Consumer Guarantees Act
The FGC’s Customer Services Forum is to host a briefing for members on the Consumer Guarantees Act by commercial law specialist Barnard Hutchinson in Auckland on May 30.
Barnard will talk about the Act and how it applies to manufacturers and suppliers.
He was admitted to the bar in 1975 and was a partner in Chapman Tripp, and has been associated with the firm for more than 30 years. He specialises in commercial law, particularly banking and taxation, but has a wide knowledge of all facets of commercial law. He also has expertise in estates and trusts.
