FGC’s Industry Relations Working Group is to host a session with Farro Fresh founder and owner Janene Draper tomorrow in Auckland.

Janene will talk about the challenges faced and the lessons learned as she and her husband started their food retail business in 2006, taking it from one store and 12 staff to the company it is today – four stores and 320 staff. Lars Wallentin, design legend - FGC member exclusive in association with Design Print Partners

Lars Wallentin has been influential in strategic design solutions in packaging, point-of-sale and branding for many of world’s most influential brands.

He was born in Sweden and educated at the Graphic Institute in Stockholm, before joining Nestlé at their headquarters and doing much of the work he was to become renowned for. He now spends his time writing about design and packaging, and consulting to consumer goods companies. His device, which comes through in his teaching, can be summarized in the three words: simplify, surprise, synergies.

FGC to host forum on Consumer Guarantees Act

The FGC’s Customer Services Forum is to host a briefing for members on the Consumer Guarantees Act by commercial law specialist Barnard Hutchinson in Auckland on May 30.

Barnard will talk about the Act and how it applies to manufacturers and suppliers.

He was admitted to the bar in 1975 and was a partner in Chapman Tripp, and has been associated with the firm for more than 30 years. He specialises in commercial law, particularly banking and taxation, but has a wide knowledge of all facets of commercial law. He also has expertise in estates and trusts.

Listeria workshop for Hawke's Bay

A listeria workshop for manufacturers of ready-to-eat foods is to be held in Napier/Hastings on July 1 by the NZ Institute of Food Science and Technology and MPI. This follows workshops in Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, and Nelson. The institute says it is planning further workshops for other parts of the country in May and July and will announce these soon.
