Innovate to feed hungrier world

29 October 2015

The world’s baking and snacks industry must explore innovations in grains to meet the challenges of a growing population, says PepsiCo's global R&D head.

Dr Mehmood Khan told the Americian Association of Cereal Chemists International meeting in Minneapolis that if the industry continues how exactly it stands today, there will soon be 3.5 billion hungry people across the world instead of the current 1 billion, Food Navigator-Asia reported.

The population is growing, he said, and it is the food industry’s job to come together and help solve the problem.
