John Doumani
"Building "Immortality" in a Consumer Business”
John will cover what he believes are the key cornerstones of building immortality in FMCG: Values, Growth and Organisational Excellence. One of FMCG’s larger than life personalities, John will be drawing from his personal lessons and experiences with J&J, Campbells Soup/Arnotts and Fonterra and the lessons he continues to learn in the context of building "immortality" for a consumer business.
John Doumani’s career spans 25 years in international business and consumer brands. Currently Managing Director for Fonterra’s Australian and New Zealand business operations, he is responsible for Fonterra’s business interests in Australia and its consumer brands operations in New Zealand.
John’s career began in Marketing with Unilever, Australia where he held a number of Marketing and Sales positions. In 1984, he joined Johnson and Johnson. Over the next 13 years he held a number of positions with J&J in Australia (Product Manager), the UK (Sales Director), Italy (Sales and Marketing Director) and the US (Vice President – Marketing). After 8 years abroad, John returned to Australia with J&J in 1994 to take up the role of Managing Director. In 1999, John joined Arnotts and Campbell's. Initially, President of Arnotts and Campbell's in Australia and New Zealand his role was expanded to include responsibility for Asia. In 2003 his role was expanded again to the role of President of Arnotts and Campbell's International making him responsible for all of Campbell's businesses outside the US - approx $3 billion in turnover.
Other interests include being a Director for the Inspire Foundation and a Director of Corporate Countdown. In his spare time he plays in a rock band leading New Zealand’s Dominion Post to dub the Fonterra boss “the milkman who rocks”. |

Karl is a Corporate Finance Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Karl focuses on mergers and acquisitions lead advisory roles, and his experience also includes share and business valuations, corporate strategy reviews and corporate restructuring matters. Karl leads PwC’s Food and Beverage sector focus having worked on a number of private and public food and beverage transactions in recent years. Prior to joining PwC, Karl managed acquisitions and divestments for a US based multi-national business with manufacturing facilities in Western Europe and South America. |

Phil O’Reilly is Chief Executive of Business NZ, New Zealand’s largest business advocacy group, representing thousands of businesses of all sizes. The group’s goal is New Zealand’s prosperity through successful business. Phil works with government and other key decision makers on issues of concern to business and the economy. New Zealand Listener magazine voted Phil 3rd on the Power and Influence List of 2009, Business and Economy, describing him as, “one of the most effective lobbyists we have seen in a long time.”
Internationally, Phil represents New Zealand employers at the International Labour Organisation, contributes to the governing body of the ILO, and is a delegate to the Business & Industry Advisory Council of the OECD. |
