FMCG - brands in action
Your first question is probably "What is FMCG?" It used to be called the grocery industry, now it’s just called FMCG. FMCG is an ugly acronym for Fast Moving Consumer Goods , which translated into English means 'things you buy on a regular basis at places like your local supermarket.' Things like butter, potato chips, toothpaste, and razors.

The FMCG industry encompasses many of New Zealand's best known companies, including Goodman Fielder, Mainland, and Hubbards, as well as major multinational groups such as Coke, Colgate-Palmolive, and Heinz-Watties. It also includes non-commodity agricultural exports from companies like Fonterra, Zespri and Richmond.

The FMCG industry represents $15 billion in retail sales, $2.4 billion in imports and $3.5 billion in exports. It directly or indirectly employs 147,800 people.
