EXECUTIVE:

Getting to Lean
Description: Lean manufacturing is the philosophy, techniques and methods of planning and control that eliminate waste, increase efficiency and make the manufacturing system respond faster to markets. There is plenty written about what it is. This reviews what is involved in how to do it. This programme is specifically designed to highlight key issues and facilitating techniques required to become lean. The programme is based on current lean practices in large fast moving consumer goods producers. Various techniques are explained including layout cells and loading, workshop redesign, review the need for planning, kanban, SPC, poke yoke, jidoka, mura, muri, heyjunka, shojinka, soikufu, muda, process improvement – kaizen and kaikaku. The programme is based on formal and informal methods. A taught element reviews techniques, philosophies and approaches. A supply chain game brings the theory to life in an intuitive manner. A series of workshops are used to create links between theory and the participants’ organisational needs. This short course will significantly benefit senior management, practitioners, process improvers, supplier developers, supply chain managers, purchasing executives, and senior staff involved in the assembly and logistics of products.
