APMG 8094 : Capabilities for the New Economy
Description:
A 45 hour course (delivered over 14 weeks) at NZQA level 8, contributing 15 credits towards the Unitec Master of Business degree. This course requires that some of the key generic skills of business are developed amongst participants. These include creativity, critical and reflective thinking, advanced problem solving, information evaluation, and the building of effectiveness amongst individuals and teams in the workplace. Cost $ 485 plus GST.

ISCG 8022 : Managing IT Projects
Description:
A 45 hour course (delivered over 14 weeks) at NZQA level 8, contributing 15 credits towards the Unitec Master of Business degree. This course provides analytical tools and techniques to prepare a formal proposal for an IT project, prepare a project charter, design control mechanisms for implementation, and develop planning and scheduling processes to minimize risk. The course is offered twice a year to the general public, but deliveries tailored specifically to the needs of the FMCG industry can be arranged subject to a minimum numbers requirement. Cost $ 625 plus GST.

Description: A degree programme for people who wish to become professional engineers in the fields of electronics and computer engineering. Description: These qualifications are the standard qualifications for engineering technologists who wish to specialise in computer engineering, electrical engineering or electronic engineering. Engineering technologists are technology specialists who, by virtue of their education and experience, are able to exercise independent technical judgement and assume personal responsibility for duties of either an established or innovative nature. Engineering technologists often have a close functional relationship with professional engineers.

APMG 6604 : Auditing Quality Systems
Description:
A two day course at NZQA level 6, specifically oriented towards the FMCG industry, and contributing 14 credits towards the National Diploma in Business. Evaluate the process of quality auditing. Prepare and implement the technical and interpersonal aspects of a quality audit. Report on audit results and recommend corrective actions.

Diploma in Computer Integrated Manufacture
Description: This programme has been designed for those wishing to update their traditional engineering skills in the latest manufacturing technologies. The programme concentrates on the application of modern technologies and the development of problem solving and design skills. The diploma can be completed in one year of full time study, however, the programme has been designed to offer the greatest possible flexibility to those employed full time within the engineering industry. The majority of tuition occurs in the evenings and it is expected that a significant proportion of students choose to complete the programme over a number of years. Alternatively, students may wish to enrol only in those courses directly relevant to their workplace, receiving a Certificate of Achievement on successful completion of each course. Students may obtain up to three Certificates of Achievement without enrolling in the diploma programme.

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Level 6)
Description: The MIT Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (incorporating the National Diploma in Engineering) builds on the strengths of the National Diploma in Engineering (NDE), with additional problem solving and CAD skills to give graduates a competitive advantage in the modern workplace, as well as providing the opportunity for staircasing to higher level programmes. This new programme, developed in conjunction with industry, supersedes the well established NZCE qualification, the standard qualification for technician engineers in the field of mechanical engineering. Effective Team Leadership
Description: The skills developed in this course will focus participants on the distinct role of the team leader and enable an easier and more effective transition from "superdoer" to "supervisor". This program uses our Effective Team Leadership workbook, which the participant retains as an ongoing reference document. The Effective Team Leadership program is run on three non-consecutive days. This provides the advantage of giving participants the opportunity to further develop by practising and implementing their new skills, in their own work environments, between training days. On their return to the course for day 2 and 3, time is spent in discussion and consultation on their success and/or difficulties with the application of the training. This process supports the successful transfer of skills from the learning environment to the workplace.

Effective Business Accounting – Accounting for non Accountants
Description: This program is designed to introduce the principles of accounting to staff who are involved in accounting, financial planning or budgeting. It gives a clear working knowledge of the Accounting Process, Budgeting, Cash-flow Management and the analysis of Accounting Reports. The program also introduces financial reporting and evaluation techniques. Participants will gain a better understanding and improved awareness of accounting functions and the inter-relationships between Accounting and the various divisions of a company. It will allow participants to contribute more effectively to the company accounting procedures. This program uses the Effective Business Accounting workbook as the course material. The workbook is retained by the participant for future reference.

Description: This programme has been designed for mid-year school leavers and adults as an introduction to the engineering trades. The programme provides a pathway from secondary to tertiary education whilst giving students an appreciation of the range of trade disciplines within the manufacturing and fabrication industries, and allows graduates to make informed choices about career paths and further study.

Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Levels 2-4)
Description: This is a three stage programme that prepares students with marketable skills to gain apprenticeships in the electrical trade. Graduates who complete appropriate work experience are eligible to apply for registration as an electrician. Each stage is one semester long. Students accepted onto this programme may choose to complete one, two or three stages. Students can also use this as a bridge to the Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

Description: The engineering technology programmes are composed of NZQA unit standards which give credit towards the Level 4 National Certificates. In addition, the programmes introduce the calculation, drawing and communication skills necessary for graduates to be successful in the modern workplace.
