EXECUTIVE:

APMG 8060 : Finance and Business Enterprise
Description:
A five day course (in two separate blocks) at NZQA level 8, contributing 15 credits towards the Unitec Master of Business degree. This course enables managers to apply a finance perspective to business, especially growth businesses, and to gain experience with the key finance tools used by management to raise finance, improve business decision making, and manage cash flow. The course is offered once a year to the general public, but deliveries tailored specifically to the needs of the FMCG industry can be arranged subject to a minimum numbers requirement. Cost $ 1100 plus GST.

Financial Decision Making
Description: On completion of this paper, participants will be able to: understand the bases of measurement and valuation used in preparing conventional general purpose financial statements, analyse and interpret general purpose financial statements, understand published consolidated financial statements at an elementary level, be aware of some of the contentious issues relating to financial accounting and critically evaluate financial accounting and reporting practices. The valuation of financial assets, capital budgeting, corporate financing, risk analysis, portfolio theory and capital markets are examined in depth. International financial management, mergers and acquisitions are also examined.

Bachelor of Business (Accounting)
Description: The Bachelor of Business has two full majors: Accounting and Marketing Management. Each of these can be combined for a joint major linking two disciplines. Students enrolled in the Accounting pathway will, after completing the BBus and the Diploma in Professional Accounting, have fulfilled the academic requirements for membership of the Chartered Accountants College (CA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand (ICANZ). There is a strong emphasis on applied and real world accounting skills.

Bachelor of Business and Information Management (BBIM)
Description: This 21 course degree is a University of Auckland programme taught at Manukau Institute of Technology. The first year of the degree gives students a strong foundation of knowledge in key aspects of business and information management. Years 2 and 3 include project management skills, a compulsory Information Management major, and a second major from Accounting, Marketing or Human Resource Management.

National Diploma in Business Computing
Description: This third year full time programme consists of 18, 7-credit courses and follows on from the Diploma in Information and Communications Technology Level 6. Study includes specialisation in selected areas of computing as well as working on a typical computing project for one third of the year’s work.

Effective Business Accounting – Accounting for non Accountants
Description: This program is designed to introduce the principles of accounting to staff who are involved in accounting, financial planning or budgeting. It gives a clear working knowledge of the Accounting Process, Budgeting, Cash-flow Management and the analysis of Accounting Reports. The program also introduces financial reporting and evaluation techniques. New Zealand Diploma in Business
Description: The New Zealand Diploma in Business (NZDipBus) is designed to teach a broad range of business knowledge and skills. The accounting courses provide students with skills for the finance and accounting sectors of business and are recognised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand as fulfilling the academic requirements for membership as an Accounting Technician (AT). The Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance (AIBF) recognises the NZDipBus as a qualification in banking at the Associate level.

Effective Team Leadership
Description: The skills developed in this course will focus participants on the distinct role of the team leader and enable an easier and more effective transition from "superdoer" to “supervisor”. This program uses our Effective Team Leadership workbook, which the participant retains as an ongoing reference document. The Effective Team Leadership program is run on three non-consecutive days. This provides the advantage of giving participants the opportunity to further develop by practising and implementing their new skills, in their own work environments, between training days. On their return to the course for day 2 and 3, time is spent in discussion and consultation on their success and/or difficulties with the application of the training. Effective Business Accounting – Accounting for non Accountants
Description: This program is designed to introduce the principles of accounting to staff who are involved in accounting, financial planning or budgeting. It gives a clear working knowledge of the Accounting Process, Budgeting, Cash-flow Management and the analysis of Accounting Reports. The program also introduces financial reporting and evaluation techniques. Participants will gain a better understanding and improved awareness of accounting functions and the inter-relationships between Accounting and the various divisions of a company.
